Porte Maillot, Paris
The redevelopment of Porte Maillot is profoundly transforming a strategic site characterized by the complexity of its infrastructure and the intensity of its traffic flows. The project restores coherence between the different sides of the square through a reorganization of circulation patterns, in order to give unity, clarity, and continuity to this major urban space.
Conceived as a true metropolitan gateway, Porte Maillot asserts its role as the main entrance to the north of the Bois de Boulogne, strengthening the connection between the city and the surrounding landscape. The various modes of transport (metro, RER, tramway, active mobility options, and cars) are harmonized to improve the fluidity and safety of travel while promoting active and public transportation. The approach relies on recycling materials from the site according to "cradle to cradle" principles and incorporates the treatment of air, water, and soil pollution. Conducted in consultation with the Architects of the Buildings of France and the Inspector of the Great Sites of France, the project is part of a demanding heritage and environmental approach.
